Stephan's Professional Bio
Stephan is currently a graduate student in The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor's Robotics program, where he works in Jason Corso's computer vision lab. His research interests include application of uncertainty principles to modern deep learning systems.
Previously, he was an employee of Southwest Research Institute, where he worked on software, hardware, and regulation/testing for connected and autonomous vehicles. Among other things, he was the primary point of contact for SwRI’s autonomous class VIII truck, “Big Red”, and also played a major role in development of testing for the J2945/1 standard for connected vehicles.
While working at Southwest Research Institute, Stephan received a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics-Industrial Mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He received his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, with Minors in Robotics, Computer Science, and Spanish Language and Culture.
